【摘要】:Liquidpenetrantexaminationmethodsindicatethepresence,location,and,toalimitedextent,thenatureandmagnitudeofthedetecteddiscontinuities.Thispracticeisnormallyusedforproductionexaminationofcriticalcomponents,wherereproducibilityisessential.Moreproceduralcontrolsandprocessingstepsarerequiredthanwithotherprocesses.1.1Thispracticecoversproceduresforfluorescentpenetrantexaminationutilizingthehydrophilicpost-emulsificationprocess.Itisanondestructivetestingmethodfordetectingdiscontinuitiesthatareopentothesurfacesuchascracks,seams,laps,coldshuts,laminations,isolatedporosity,throughleaks,orlackoffusionandisapplicabletoin-process,final,andmaintenanceexamination.Itcanbeeffectivelyusedintheexaminationofnonporous,metallicmaterials,bothferrousandnonferrous,andofnonmetallicmaterialssuchasglazedorfullydensifiedceramicsandcertainnonporousplasticsandglass.1.2Thispracticealsoprovidesareference:1.2.1Bywhichafluorescentpenetrantexaminationhydrophilicpost-emulsificationprocessrecommendedorrequiredbyindividualorganizationscanbereviewedtoascertaintheirapplicabilityandcompleteness.1.2.2Foruseinthepreparationofprocessspecificationsdealingwiththefluorescentpenetrantexaminationofmaterialsandpartsusingthehydrophilicpost-emulsificationprocess.Agreementbythepurchaserandthemanufacturerregardingspecifictechniquesisstronglyrecommended.1.2.3Foruseintheorganizationofthefacilitiesandpersonnelconcernedwiththeliquidpenetrantexamination.1.3Thispracticedoesnotindicateorsuggeststandardsforevaluationoftheindicationsobtained.Itshouldbepointedout,however,thatindicationsmustbeinterpretedorclassifiedandthenevaluated.Forthispurposetheremustbeaseparatecodeorspecificationoraspecificagreementtodefinethetype,size,location,anddirectionofindicationsconsideredacceptable,andthoseconsideredunacceptable.1.4Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsareregardedasstandard.SIunitsgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.1.6Allareasofthispracticemaybeopentoagreementbetweenthecognizantengineeringorganizationandthesupplier,orspecificdirectionfromthecognizantengineeringorganization.
